Preventative Medicine
The shoulder joint is our most used and abused! Imagine a joint that can rotate *360 degrees all of the time. Rotator cuff (or supraspinatus) are the most common tear. Exercises can help prevent these tears and also help to heal small tears without surgery. Here’s why…….the group of muscles that surround the rotator cuff can be strengthened in order to protect those tendons. So in the case of a small tear the build up or strengthening of muscle surrounding the tear allows the healing process to take place. This same logic applies to the knee joints. The stronger your quadriceps are the better your knees will be. Imagine an egg shell surrounding the soft embryo inside. The same logic applies here. Strengthen the outer muscles or shell if you will, in order to allow the inner tendons to repair and regrow!
